Today was our Remembrance Day assembly at JKE and it was a lovely moment to stop and remember how grateful we are to live in a generally peaceful place like Canada. We are able to enjoy our liberties and freedom because of the people who have come before us and have fought for us. We are very grateful. Division 14 put together a lovely wreath which Nicholas and Sophia presented during the assembly. Students made two types of poppies: one with word art and one using pointillism techniques. For a further description of the art, check out the "Art Work" page at the top of the blog or click HERE. In other news, Division 14 students are enjoying many of the activities that we are doing in class. Mrs. Anderson is leading the students through an ecosystem unit in Science, we have done some compare/contrast writing comparing Fantastic Mr. Fox movie and book, and today, students completed a simplified learning profiles survey to examine what kind of learning style they favour: visual, auditory or kinaesthetic. We will be examining these learning styles in more depth on our myBlueprint pages. Don't forget to keep checking in on those. Throughout the school year, students will be adding pictures of assignments, reflections and building a learning profile that helps them recognize their strengths and areas for improvement.
Don't forget that there is no school on Friday or Monday so our spelling test will be tomorrow. Have a great evening. Mrs. Vieira

All about Mrs. VieiraI'm new to JKE and new to the school district but I've been a teacher in B.C. since 2008. I love art, animals and my family, which includes my daughter who is 1 year old. Archives
