Individual Student photos were taken last week and the order forms went home with students today. If your family is going to order photos, the form says that orders are due October 6th. Unfortunately, that's a Pro-D Day and students are not attending school that day. That means they are really due Thursday, October 5th. Forms can be turned into Mrs. Vieira, Mrs. Anderson or directly to the office. If you want to take retakes, you need to keep your form! Photo retakes are on Friday, October 27th. Students will have to give the photographer their previous order form in order to take retakes so DO NOT THROW IT OUT! Also, I really enjoy posting photos of student's artwork. I've created a new page where I will post photos but I will let you know on the main page when I've added photos. Check out our Warm Vs. Cool art projects HERE. Reminder that tomorrow is Orange Shirt Day. Students are being encouraged to wear clothing with orange. We will be attending an assembly and have have several discussions about the residential schools and their impact upon Aboriginal communities. I encourage you to speak to your student about it and what it means to them. Thanks, Mrs. Vieira I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.
The new spelling words for the week are posted on on the blog. Click here to see them. Good luck studying. Mrs. Vieira Monday, Sept 25th

Wear orange if you can. - Spelling test! That's it for now. Have a great weekend. Mrs. Vieira Mrs. Anderson told me about the amazing turn out at Meet the Teacher on Thursday! I'm so glad that so many of you were able to take time out of your busy week to come meet Mrs. Anderson and tour Division 14's room. I hope some of you will be able to come by on Tuesday to meet me after school between 2:45pm and 3:45pm. If not, feel free to email me at [email protected] to schedule an appointment for another time. Most of the feedback we heard on Meet the Teacher night was very, very positive. One thing we understand is some confusion about planners and communications going home. Because I was not sure if I was staying, Mrs. Anderson and I are still figuring out some of the finer details about routines and expectations within the classroom. Planners are one of those. Students have made planners out of red duo-tangs. Contained within is a calendar with important dates and their spelling words for the week. We are going to start encouraging students to take their planner home each night so parents can see what's going on. Another great way to communicate with us is through email. I'm going to start sending a weekly "Week at a Glance" on Fridays so that you can have a quick outlook of what's happening in our class incase your child forgets to bring their planner home. Last but not least, this website is another great form of communication. Check back here as I add photos of student artwork, information about projects we are working on as well as important information or events. Thanks again for all the wonderful support on Meet the Teacher night. Mrs. Vieira It's that time again, time to meet the teachers! Meet the Teacher night is Thursday, September 21st from 6pm-7pm. Unfortunately, due to a previous commitment, I wont be able to attend this event at this time. Mrs. Anderson will be available and is looking forward to meeting many of you. I will be available on Tuesday, Sept 26th from 2:45pm-3:45pm. If that time does not work for you, please feel free to email me at [email protected] to schedule a separate appointment. I'm so sorry for the inconvenience.
Mrs. Vieira It's been a crazy, busy start of the school year and I know a lot of students and parents were concerned when they heard that a permanent teacher had not been found to work with Mrs. Anderson. I was suppose to only fill in for the first 2 weeks until a permanent teacher could be found. When one could not, I stayed on to give the school another chance to find someone.
But unfortunately, school districts all around the province are experiencing a teacher shortage due to the restoration of class size and composition language which meant that hundreds of new classrooms needed to be created this year. When a replacement teacher could not be found, I was asked to stay on permanently. So what does that mean? Mrs. Anderson and I will be job-sharing. Mrs. Anderson currently will be teaching Monday and Wednesday mornings and I will be teaching the rest of the time until winter break. After winter break, the job-sharing may adjust with Mrs. Anderson slowly taking over more and more time in the classroom. I'm excited to join the JKE staff and family and look forward to meeting all the parents. We have been having a wonderful time in Division 14 so far and I'm looking forward to what this year will bring. Mrs. Vieira |
All about Mrs. VieiraI'm new to JKE and new to the school district but I've been a teacher in B.C. since 2008. I love art, animals and my family, which includes my daughter who is 1 year old. Archives
