This is something I simply HAVE to share.
On Tuesday, we ended our money unit. Students were very happy to hear that they would continue earning a paycheque and shopping in the story but we will be moving on to other units now. But before we did, I asked the students to complete a self-reflection for me. This is the first time I have done this unit and it's important for me to receive feedback with how well the students got the concepts that were the units Big Ideas. I was BLOWN away by how thoughtful and meaningful some of the reflections were and I HAD to share them with you. As you can see, I believe this unit was extremely successful in learning not just how to count, recognize and add money but the key factors in building a strong sense of Financial Literacy: having a deeper understanding of earning, spending and saving money and the factors that go into each of those. I'm so proud of the students and it's been one of my favourite Math units to teach so far. I hope they have enjoyed it as much as I have.
